Mistfall Hunter Hallowgrove Map and Extraction Guide

A complete launch-version route plan for Hallowgrove: its four broad regions, Normal and Chaos gear gates, returner chimes, butterfly trail and the near-instant final mist collapse.

The short answer

Hallowgrove is the beginner map, and its mist does not creep inward — a timer runs and then the map collapses almost at once. Extraction announces itself: a returner chime, a butterfly trail, then a Woodling.

How the two maps extract

Hallowgrove hands you the start of the chain. Brandrgarde does not. Every stage below is the same objective solved two different ways.

Hallowgrove — this page

Brandrgarde

The clock you are racing

A timer bar, then a hard cutoff

A timer bar sits in the top right. Until it fills you can explore and fight without worrying about the mist. When it elapses the Gyldenmist collapses almost instantly — not a circle creeping inward.

A shrinking safe zone, in phases

The Gyldenmist collapses to a safe zone over multiple phases, smaller each time, until it consumes the map. Standing outside it deals enormous damage — far more than a typical battle royale.

§01 Where the chain starts

Chimes are already standing

Returner chimes are already standing at several spots when the expedition begins, which gives Hallowgrove a much wider extraction window.

There are no chimes

Nothing is placed for you. This is the single most important difference between the two maps, and the mistake that gets new players killed waiting for a prompt that never comes.

§02 Finding the Returner Woodling

Follow the butterflies

Interacting with a chime sends a burst of butterflies toward a nearby spot. A short timer runs, then a Returner Woodling spawns there and attacks you.

Hunt the blue aura

Woodlings spawn at random locations instead. Find them by the pulsing blue aura that stays visible through terrain, and by their bell sound.

§03 Getting the bell

Kill it, then channel

Kill the Woodling, interact with its corpse and channel the return spell.

Kill it — one bell guaranteed

One bell is guaranteed per match with a chance of more. A rare bell can also be found on the ground.

§04 Leaving

The channel completes

A bell rings on completion. Clear the area before you start.

The bell is audible to anyone nearby — this is when you are most likely to be jumped

Leave whenever you choose

The bell occupies a dedicated slot, so once you are holding one you can leave at any time — including alone, which changes squad dynamics instantly.

§01

Read the map as four broad regions

A corrupted valley divides Hallowgrove through the centre. The terrain around it changes enough that you can use the region itself as an orientation tool before you know individual points of interest.

  • North-west: traditional Norse structures.
  • North-east: rural, wooded ground with winding paths.
  • South-east: craggy mountain terrain populated by humanoid lizards.
  • South-west: castle ramparts and undead enemies.
§02

Choose Normal or Chaos before you build the loadout

The queue applies a gear gate. These launch-week requirements come from hands-on coverage and should be checked against the live queue screen whenever a balance patch lands.

§03

Extraction: chime, butterflies, Woodling, channel

Hallowgrove does not use Brandrgarde’s random Woodling hunt. Returner chimes are already placed around the map when the expedition begins, so an extraction route exists from the first minute.

  • Interact with a returner chime as soon as you are ready to create an exit.
  • Follow the burst of butterflies to the nearby destination and watch the short spawn timer.
  • Kill the Returner Woodling when it appears.
  • Interact with the corpse and finish the channel that rings the return bell.
  • Treat the top-right map timer as a hard deadline: the final collapse is almost immediate, not a slow battle-royale circle.
§04

A practical first-run route

The safest plan is not a fixed line between named landmarks; it is a sequence that keeps an exit available while you learn which container pools and mission sites are worth repeating.

  • At spawn, identify which of the four terrain regions you are in and read the remaining timer.
  • Choose one nearby gold-outlined loot zone instead of crossing the whole map for a theoretical best spot.
  • Take a blue-exclamation mission if it stays on the same side of the corrupted valley.
  • When a nearby chime fits your route, decide whether the loot already in your safe pouch justifies leaving.
  • After obtaining the bell, avoid loud fights that only advertise an exit to the rest of the lobby.
§05

What usually kills a clean Hallowgrove run

The map feels forgiving because it does not squeeze you continuously, which makes the final deadline easy to ignore. The other common mistake is starting the Woodling chain only after the lobby has heard a major fight and begun rotating toward you.

  • Do not confuse “no gradual circle” with “no time limit.”
  • Do not cross the central valley repeatedly for low-value containers.
  • Do not leave a completed mission reward outside the safe pouch while you take an optional boss fight.
§06

Which bosses you can meet on Hallowgrove

Sálmar is the one Mist Lord a published guide places on this map by name. General Harald is put here by the game’s own quest text rather than by anyone’s map, and no published source has seen Otto, the Flesheater here. Read circulating health tables with care: MistfallDB prints the same Hallowgrove and Brandrgarde rows for all three Mist Lords, so a “Hallowgrove” row says a stat profile exists, not where a boss stands.
